Apple is preparing a new series of Mac processors that is expected to be introduced in 2021 with the aim of performing better than the faster processors of Intel Corp.
Apple chip engineers are working on multiple successors to the M1 chip, Apple's first major Mac processor, which debuted in November. If they live up to expectations, they will significantly exceed the performance of the latest Intel chip machines, according to Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources.
The Apple M1 chip was installed in the new MacBook Pro laptop, in the updated version of the Mac mini desktop but also in MacBook Air range models. The company's next-generation chip, which is likely to launch in early April and later in the fall, is scheduled to be installed on upgraded versions of the MacBook Pro, on iMac desktops, and later on a new Mac Pro workstation.
